The Bells Were Ringin' Out For Christmas Day
/My friends!
What a wonderful couple of weeks we have had! I cannot possibly convey how much love and affection I have for every single person who attended and made the Cargo, London and Guildhall, Leicester album launch shows so incredibly special. The two gigs were very different and each as unforgettable as the other. Playing my first headline show at a big London venue was a terrifying experience, until 300 of you turned up to sing along and make me feel like all the hard work is worth it just to make music that means something to that many of you.
Here is us having way too much fun at Cargo:
The Leicester Guildhall was a beautiful, intimate place to play to a brilliant home crowd, and the perfect way to end a year which has been the most fun yet.
Three cheers for The Benefits Culture, aka Caitlin Field and Jess Greengrass, who have made the best gigs a million times better and made Love Is My Rebellion the best record I’ve been involved in. We went from Greenbelt to Newbury, from Latitude to London and – well, not that many places in between, but look out for us in 2014 because this show is going on the road! Thanks to Robin Ince and Josie Long for bringing me along with their Shambles to places all over the country, and to Radio 4’s the Now Show for putting me on in March; my personal highlight for the year has got to be the surprise – and very heartwarming – inclusion of me as One to Watch by the Independent on Sunday’s Pink List. For all of it and more to come, I’m truly, immensely grateful to every one of you for your continued support.
We have new t-shirts!
If you’re looking for a Grace Petrie t-shirt that you can wear at Christmas dinner with Granny then we have produced some non-sweary ones for your wearing pleasure. Check ‘em out here. You’ll be the talk of the town! Well, you or the scandalous affair that’s happening between certain local councillors. You know who I’m talking about.
Prezzies…
Thank you to you folks who’ve ordered CDs and things from me as Christmas presents! If you’re waiting on things they should be with you today or tomorrow.
PLEASE NOTE that the last posting day for Royal Mail 1st Class for Christmas delivery is December 20th. I would therefore recommend you placing orders that you need for Christmas by 19th December - any that I get in on December 20th that come in with enough time for me to humanly make the last post, I will endeavour to fulfil but to be really sure, I’d do it the day before. Please also note that I cannot be held responsible, for anything I do really, but most especially for the failings of Royal Mail.
ALSO:
For all of you cool cats in London I shall be crooning along at the Bloomsbury theatre for the remainder of the run of 9 Lessons and Carols for Godless People avec Robin Ince and a star-studded host of other acts. There are still some tickets, and this run is the last one so I would urge you not to miss out.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas filled with love and cheer and that we cross paths in 2014. See you on the other side…
