Hello everyone! Well, I’m back online finally and looking a little different but hopefully functioning better. Apologies for the blackout for the last week, during which the previous website basically decided it had irreconcilable differences with me, and left the operation. (I’m not naming names, Tumblr, but I always suspected you were a Tory.) I’m pretty sure that nothing worthy of note or comment happened between then and now though… right?

Album III: A New Hope

So here you behold the new-look Grace Petrie website, which we (someone who is better than me at computers) will be updating and transforming over the next few weeks. There will be lots of things to add and change over the coming months as I make preparations for *drum roll* THE NEW GRACE PETRIE ALBUM. Thanks to those of you who snapped up those 100 copies of the double A-side You Were Always Gonna Break My Heart, Honey – and if you didn’t get your hands on a CD then please feel free to download the tracks here to get a taste of what to expect from the new record, which I’m starting to get really excited about. Along with those two tracks, the new CD will also feature We’re All In It Together, as heard on BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show a couple of weeks ago. If you missed the programme, have a little listen to the song here and let me know what you think.

The new record, which is yet to be named, will be quite different from anything I’ve done before, but I hope you will all like it nonetheless. The two years since I last recorded have been full of change personally and politically, and I think the songs I’m writing right now reflect that. I want to say a sincere thank you to those of you who’ve been with me all the way since this website first appeared in 2010 with Tell Me A Story. Thanks to you I’ve been able to do more, play more and most importantly keep hope alive. And those of you who’ve just joined – why not check out the back catalogue? ;)

More announcements about the new record will follow in the next few days but for now all I can say is it will be released from here in June, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.

News: Handmade Festival

I’m thoroughly chuffed to announce my appearance at the newly-created Handmade Festival, which is coming to my beloved Leicester on May 24th-27th. The festival, produced almost entirely by the man who produced my newest release, John Helps of Maybeshewill fame, will take place over the bank holiday weekend in a variety of cool venues around the city. The line-up of music and comedy is awesome and tickets are available to buy from here, but I would recommend you grab them soon.

April… Oxford & Leek Anti-Capitalist Roadshows

This month I’ll be joining in with two Anti-Capitalist Roadshow gigs, one at the the Holywell Music Room, Oxford on Friday 12th, for which tickets are available from here and one at Foxlowe Arts Centre on 16th, tickets still to buy here. If you like my music but haven’t been to one of these unique events yet then I really do recommend it. The Roadshows bring together a collective of some of the best anti-establishment folk singers (and a magician!) in the country to share a stage and stories of subversion together. These particular shows will feature some combination of Leon Rosselson, Peggy Seeger, Janet Russell, Jim Woodland, Robb Johnson, Frankie Armstrong and Ian Saville. With a line-up like that, you’d be mad to miss them.
